Friday morning, we prepared to set off on our planned day-trip around the northern island of Babeldaob. We hadn't exactly planned very much, but we had pre-arranged a rental car through the dive company that planned our trip, who in turn arranged it with the hotel. Or least, they were supposed to. We don't know exactly who didn't follow through, but in any event it wasn't pre-arranged after all. No matter. Things are pretty informal, and a phone call later, the rental company dropped off the mighty machine with which we would cruise around the island.

Talkin' Baseball
On Friday, March 1, Guam's highest baseball league, the Budweiser Baseball League, held Opening Day (well, Night) at Paseo Stadium in Hagatna. We attended because how often do you get to go to Opening Day anyway, let alone on March 1st. Tickets were $2, $1 for children and senior citizens (man'amko) and free for babies, of whom there were many. Quite the bargain!

Micronesian Island Fair
Back in October (and yes we know what month it is now) we attended the 25th Annual Micronesian Island Fair at Ypao (E-pow) Beach. Delegations from the various islands in the Federated States of Micronesia, the other Mariana Islands, and various independent islands such as Palau came to perform local dances, share local food, and sell crafts. Here are some of the highlights:

In Lieu of Presidents' Day*...
********Just so you know, before we begin, we started writing this back in November. Better late than never, eh?********
Nick had his first official holiday off Friday, Nov. 2. Let's see if you can guess what it was for....
...Nope, not Columbus Day, it case you missed it, that was October 8th this year. Consequently, Nick didn't get Columbus Day off at the Territorial Supreme Court level. We can only assume the Federal Court did, as it is a Federal Holiday. Also, Columbus did not, in any sense of the word, "discover" Guam, so we suppose not celebrating Columbus Day makes sense.
...Nope, not Halloween, that was on the Wednesday before.
...Obviously not Election Day....Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
...Nope, not Veteran's Day, that isn't* until November 11.
* Future tense made sense when we started writing this post, not so much by the time we finished it.
....hmmmm.... well that does it for all the well known holidays and observances, right?
C'mon you can do it, we have faith in you...hint, hint....
Give up?
